The National Sports Collectors Convention traditionally begins with an exclusive VIP Party on Wednesday afternoon. Each year, VIPs are invited to this special event to pick up their VIP Credentials, VIP gift package and tickets for their VIP autographs. Only attendees who have purchased any of the VIP Packages may attend the party beginning at 2:30 PM. Hosted by the Topps Company this year, the party provides light refreshments and other activities. The highlight of the event is a free autograph session from 3-4 PM. This year we are pleased to announce the guests for this party will be NHL Hall of Famer and NY Ranger great Eddie Giacomin, 1974 NL MVP and Dodger star Steve Garvey and Philadelphia’s own “Wild Thing” Mitch Williams.
Eddie Giacomin played for the NY Rangers and Detroit Red Wings winning a share of the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the best goaltender in the NHL, in 1971. He was a 6-time NHL All Star and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1987. Steve Garvey, playing for the LA Dodgers was the 1974 NL MVP. He also was a 10-time All Star and was twice named NLCS MVP. He holds the NL record for consecutive games played at 1207. Mitch Williams, nicknamed “Wild Thing”, earned 192 saves in an 11 year MLB career. Known for giving up a World Series winning home run to Joe Carter, Williams addressed the media and took the blame and has since been forgiven by most Phillies fans.
Following their signing session at the VIP Party, Giacomin, Garvey and Williams will sign free for the public from 4:30-6:30 PM at the 37th National Sneak Peek.Tickets and VIP Admission Packages for the National are available now and may be purchased by clicking here!
